Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Xeo Quit Relic Site being Ranked as A National Monument

In the morning of May 7th, at the Xeo Quit relic site (Hamlet 4, My Hiep commune, Cao Lanh district), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony of the 30th anniversary of Xeo Quit relic site ranked as a National Cultural – Historical Site and inaugurated the Xeo Quit tourism infrastructure project (phase 2).

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee – Mr. Phan Van Thang, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee – Mr. Pham Thien Nghia, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee – Mr. Doan Tan Buu and former leaders of the province attended the event.

At the ceremony, the delegates together reviewed the glorious tradition at the revolutionary base of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee during the resistance war against the U.S to save the country. Currently, Xeo Quit relic site is not only one of the important historical - cultural relics of the province, but also a place to be positioned to "preserve history, preserve the soul of the countryside", contributing to educate revolutionary tradition for the younger generation.

Mr. Doan Tan Buu said that to continue preserving and promoting the value of the relic site, the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has invested more than VND 16 billion in the infrastructure project of Xeo Quit tourist area (phase 2). The project has been completed and put into use, contributing to the efficiency of relic management and tourist attraction.

The Vice Chairman of the PPC suggested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Center for Trade, Tourism and Investment Promotion, and the Management Board of Xeo Quit relic site continue to promote the relics value and develop tourism that is worthy as the potential and value of the National Historical - Cultural Relic.

At the celebration, the delegates heard former provincial leaders share about the orientation to promote the relics value associated with the sustainable development of tourism services and the orientation of naming streets and building memorial to Heroes - C279 at Xeo Quit relic site.

Xeo Quit relic site has a total area of ​​about 62 hectares, including more than 33 hectares of Melaleuca forest. From 1960 to 1975, Kien Phong Provincial Party Committee (Dong Thap province) chose that place as a base to lead the people, contributing to the whole country's successful implementation of the resistance war against the U.S for national salvation.

On April 9th 1992, the Ministry of Culture and Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) issued a Decision recognizing the resistance base of Kien Phong Provincial Party Committee as a National Historical and Cultural Relic.
