Korean experts proposed to develop products from Dong Thap lotus
On the morning of May 14, the Korea - Asia Economic Cooperation Association (KOAECA) delegation paid its courtesy visit to the leaders of Dong Thap province. Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Lee Nam Kee - Chairman of KOAECA Association, Chairman of the Halal Fund Advisory Council (Middle East) expressed his impression of Dong Thap province - a locality with a top-class business investment environment in Vietnam according to the assessment of the business community through the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI). They are even more impressive when Dong Thap also stands out with the image of lotus flowers and products processed from the lotus tree.
Dr. Lee Nam Kee affirmed, KOAECA Association includes large corporations in Korea, with strengths in providing finance, technology, markets, logistics, import and export of food, foodstuffs, agriculture - forestry - With these strengths, KOAECA wishes to select a number of strong areas of Dong Thap province for cooperation, creating a premise for expanding cooperation in other fields. In particular, the President of the KOAECA Association was especially impressed with the lotus tree. Dr. Lee Nam Kee said that, in addition to processing of fresh materials, lotus can be researched and extracted as medicinal herbs and high-grade functional foods; at the same time, it is proposed to establish a research and development center for lotus products in Dong Thap to increase the value of lotus trees.
In addition, the KOAECA Association is also interested in local labor resources to be able to supply companies in Korea.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia would like to thank the KOAECA Association for their interests and proposals to cooperate with the province, especially the ideas for developing the local lotus industry and hope to soon actualize it.
Mr. Pham Thien Nghia said that Dong Thap has strengths in agriculture, especially rice sector, ornamental flowers, fruit trees, etc. Dong Thap is also proud of the image of pink lotus land, homeland of many famous export products developed from indigenous resources.
According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, over the past time, Dong Thap province has established a good cooperative relationship with Korean partners in a number of fields of cooperation such as: friendship exchange, goods and agricultural products exchange, cooperate to send seasonal workers in the agricultural field to work in Cheorwon district, Gangwon province, etc..

On the occasion of the 1st Dong Thap Lotus Festival 2022 which take place from May 19 to 21, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee invited the KOAECA Association to attend and wished the KOAECA Association to keep being a bridge to introduced Dong Thap to many Korean localities and businesses to learn and cooperate in investment.
