Lai Vung District’s Tangerines Festival has Opended
On the morning of January 5th 2023, the 1st Lai Vung district red madarin festival was officially opened with the theme “Aspiration to Rise” at the Center for Culture, Sports and Radio of Lai Vung district. Ms. Le Thi Kim Loan - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Mr. Kieu The Lam - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Mr. Vo Ngoc Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and leaders of other provincial departments attended the ceremony.
The festival was organized to honor, introduce and promote the image of mandarins, as well as the cultural-economic value of this unique product, thus contributing to boosting local tourism and image.
The Chairman of People's Committee of Lai Vung district gave the opening speech of the festival
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia - Chairman of the People's Committee of Lai Vung district said that Lai Vung district had potential for fresh water all year round with abundant alluvium, so it became a good area for trees and sweet fruit, especially red mandarins, a famous specialty of the country.
People visiting Lai Vung these days can sense the busy atmosphere of the red mandarin fields preparing for the Tet holiday. Lai Vung District has more than 300 ha of red mandarin, with over 200 ha bearing fruit. Mandarin growers have high expectations for this beautiful crop.
Visitors can also easily see the image of a happy, healthy, and beautiful "Madarin Mascot" appearing on the festival's identification system, signposts, and public spaces, even in the Zalo application, and becoming the pride of every citizen of Lai Vung Land.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia was grateful to the diligent people in the journey to stick with mandarin trees yesterday, today, and in the future.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, the Festival in Lai Vung district, with activities to connect and share experiences between the state, businesses, farmers, and scientists in order to increase its value and sustainable development, will be an important "boost," opening up many opportunities for the production and consumption of Lai Vung red mandarin, as well as other products of the district, promoting the original natural resources, contributing to the development of tourism, and creating a local image.

The Tangerine Festival took place with many attractive activities, such as: an experience of the production areas of red mandarin, Workshop on "Preserving and Promoting the Potential and Value of Red Mandarin," Seminar on "Red Mandarin - Local Potential and Opportunity for All Customers,", Contest on "Model Red Mandarin Garden," Contest on "Beautiful Persimmon Tree," etc.
The festival was co-organized by the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the People's Committee of Lai Vung district, taking place from January 5th to 8th 2023.
