Dong Thap launches Festival of Planting Trees "Eternal gratitude to Uncle Ho"
The launching ceremony of "Eternal tree planting festival in gratitude to Uncle Ho" Spring Quy Mao 2023 took place on the morning of January 28, 2023 (the 7th day of the Lunar New Year) at the Training and Mobility Battalion of the Provincial Border Guard Command in Tan Ho Co commune, Tan Hong district) with the participation of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia.
This activity was organized by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union in collaboration with the Provincial Border Guard Command in response to President Ho Chi Minh's call: "Spring is the new year of planting trees, making the country more and more springy ” and implementing the Prime Minister’s Project “Growing 01 billion trees in the period of 2021 - 2025”, thereby creating an atmosphere of emulation so that all levels, branches and all people in the province are active, proactive, join participation.
Over the years, the movement of planting trees in memory of Uncle Ho has become an annual activity of the Youth Union at all levels, creating an atmosphere of joy and excitement, emulating achievements to celebrate the Party - celebrating the arrival of Spring each year and the return of spring as well as traditional education for young people.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Huynh Minh Thuc wished that tree planting activities would continue to be maintained throughout the year by officials, soldiers, union members and the youth; at the same time, it is recommended that all levels of the Youth Union need to innovate and create forms of promoting tree planting activities, integrating tree planting activities into the anniversaries of pupils, students, union members and the youth.
On this occasion, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union gave 1,000 bamboo trees and 01 watering kit to the Provincial Border Guard Command with a total value of 50 million VND, 01 playground renovation project for provincial Border Guard soldiers worth 20 million VND. In addition, the Vietnam Coconut Association donated 2,000 coconut seedlings to the provincial border posts under the cooperation agreement with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, provincial leaders and delegates together with officials, union members, the youth and soldiers planted more than 500 new coconut seedlings, 500 green trees of all kinds and planted 1,000 bamboo trees at the road to protect the border patrol road in Tan Hong district.

In addition, traditional educational programs are also organized such as: Offering incense at the memorial stele for heroes and martyrs; propagating sovereignty over national borders and landmarks; giving gifts to poor students in Cambodia, etc.
Union ministries across the province have actively organized activities to respond to this year's tree planting festival. Thereby, over 25,000 new trees of all kinds have been planted such as: coconut, areca, canary, lentil; take care of and develop the "nursery of millions of trees" at the Youth Union's facilities and organize social security activities, with a total value of more than 1.5 billion VND.
In 2022, the province will plant 590,500 trees of all kinds. In the plan to plant trees in 2023, the province strives to plant about 400,000 trees or more.
