The RCEP Agreement was signed on November 15th 2020 and will take effect soon in January 01st 2022. As soon as the agreement is ratified, it will be become the largest free trade agreement by economic output in the world with potential for trade growth and integration among East Asian economy. It shall also be an Agreement aimed at expanding and deepening the cohesion between ASEAN and the following countries: China, Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
For Dong Thap, besides out of USD 1 billion in merchandise export turnover in 2020, 40% of export turnover (equivalent to about USD 440 million) comes from the market within the RCEP block. Therefore, this will be an opportunity for enterprises of the province to promote the export of strong products such as aquatic products, rice and rice products, textiles, footwear, etc.
