Tân Hồng is a border district of Đồng Tháp province, covering an area of 294 km² with relatively complicated terrain having highland and low land area with large difference of between 01 to 1.5m, mainly clay soil and light sandy soil.

Tân Hồng borders Preah Sdach and Kampong Trabaek district, Pray Veng province (Cambodia) to the North with a 19.5km length; and borders Tân Hưng district, Long An province to the East; Hồng Ngự town, Đồng Tháp province to the West and Tam Nông district to the South.

Tân Hồng district has Sa Rài town and 08 commune consisting of An Phước, Bình Phú, Tân Công Chí, Tân Hộ Cơ, Tân Phước, Tân Thành A, Tân Thành B and Thông Bình commune.

Its mainly economy is agriculture, on the other hand commercial and services are still not developed. Leaders of the district and Đồng Tháp province are calling for investment in Dinh Bà International Border Gate Economic Zone which is located in the district.
