JETRO to study the investment opportunities in Dong Thap
With the desire to study the investment opportunities in Dong Thap, on the morning of November 2, the Japan Foreign Trade Promotion Organization (JETRO) delegation led by Mr. Matsumoto Nobuyuki - Chief Representative of JETRO Office in Ho Chi Minh City had a meeting with Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia and leaders of related departments and agencies.

Mr. Matsumoto Nobuyuki said that the mission was to understand the mechanism, policy and investing environment in Dong Thap province, thereby providing information for Japanese businesses, especially policies for investors about the issue of power supply for production, the development of industrial zones and clusters, transportation infrastructure and human resources, etc.
In terms of information about the issues concerned by the delegation, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Japan was the leading market that the province was targeting in implementing the program of sending laborers to work abroad for a period recently. Up to now, there have been over 9,000 employees working in Japanese enterprises and factories. In addition, the province is investing in developing industrial parks, traffic infrastructure is gradually improving towards regional linkages (notably An Huu - Cao Lanh expressway project); paying attention to well implementation of human resource training (there are more than 3,000 interns studying abroad) ready to meet the labor recruitment needs of enterprises.
Besides, Dong Thap has about 500 typical OCOP products and rural industrial products; has strengths in agricultural production with 504,000 hectares of rice production, with an output of more than 03 million tons/year. The province has 04 industrial parks, 16 industrial clusters, the occupancy rate is over 75%, etc. In terms of investment attraction, in addition to 02 strong industries (rice and pangasius), the province wishes to cooperate to invest in the fields of high technology, pharmaceutical industry, logistics and some areas of deep processing.
Mr. Pham Thien Nghia affirmed that the province's consistent policy was to always accompany with businesses and created the best conditions for investors, which was clearly demonstrated by being in the national top of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) in 14 consecutive years; At the same time, He hoped that JETRO would be a bridge calling for Japanese businesses to come to learn and invest in the province in the near future.
