Huynh Thuy Le's ancient mansion was constructed in 1895 and rebuilt in 1917. This house has a distinct architectural style that combines east and west. Inside, traditional architecture is lofty and airy; the walls are built of very thick bricks ranging from 30 to 40 cm thick, covering the wooden frame structure to boost bearing capacity. However, the roof is covered with yin and yang tiles, and the two gables are curled in the shape of a boat in the style of a Northern pagoda to provide a gentle feature for the roof. There are three rooms in the residence. This is a traditional Vietnamese house with intricately carved wooden doors and an interior furnished in the style of a Chinese house.

This ancient mansion, in addition to its remarkable architecture, is also the home of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, the first lover of female writer Marguerite Duras. This love story became a memoir for her, which inspired her to create the classic novel "Lover" in 1984. French director Jean-Jacques Annaud adapted this piece into the film "L'Amant" in 1992.
