Korean experts share startup experiences with Dong Thap

On May 21, in the morning, Mr. Yun Dae Sik, Director of the ASEAN Center for Cooperation in Research and Technology (K-ART), held a session with startups to discuss experiences of Korean entrepreneurs to start-up enterprises in Dong Thap province.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Pham Thien Nghia, thanked Mr. Yun Dae Sik and hoped that Dong Thap's startup businesses would boldly discuss issues of concern.

Pham Thien Nghia, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, who was present at the sharing session, stated that the province was always looking to support local startups and wants to lead the Mekong Delta region in this area. The province will host the second Mekong Startup meeting, a meeting for fledgling companies, soon.

According to Mr. Pham Thien Nghia, although the startup scene in the province has been active recently, a significant breakthrough has not yet occurred. Thus, he anticipates that the startup expertise from Korea and Mr. Yun Dae Sik's experience will enable firms in Dong Thap province to grow and function more efficiently.

Mr. Yun Dae Sik shared product promotion and sales strategies

Mr. Yun Dae Sik talked with Dong Thap startups the experiences of “Kimchi Land” startups through practical lessons learned in Korea. One such experience is launching a business using Lotus products for food and cosmetics. The Center also had products on display at the Second Dong Thap Lotus Festival, including wine made from lotus leaves, sweets made from lotus hearts, cosmetics made from lotus, etc.

Regarding the Lotus Festival, Mr. Yun Dae Sik stated that Dong Thap province ought to focus on the lotus industry's industrial development following the festival. That was also how festivals were handled in Korea: companies must investigate how to combine Lotus with other components to produce a variety of Lotus-based products with added value. Those was the crucial stages is packaging.

According to Mr. Yun Dae Sik, a research and development industrial complex was necessary to incubate startups and support the growth of the lotus industry and lotus-based enterprises.

The Director of the ASEAN Center for Cooperation in Research and Technology  also talked about the startup process, including how a group of people may work together and synergize to build a firm, how to diagram the process of manufacturing a product, and how to promote it product sales on social media websites, etc.

Exchange and sharing between Dong Thap startups and Korean experts

Dong Thap's startup companies communicated and addressed important topics, like requirements and criteria for product launch, with the Director of the ASEAN Center for Cooperation in Research and Technology through the sharing of helpful information. goods reaching the Korean market; the experience Korea has had developing its market; the function of patents; practical solutions for new items, etc.
