Director of the Department of Construction Tran Ngo Minh Tuan welcomed the delegation to survey to come up with a plan to improve and upgrade the local wastewater treatment system; At the same time, introduced the current situation and problems of wastewater treatment in Dong Thap province.

In general, drainage channels and large and small rivers are currently receiving and draining rainwater and wastewater to urban areas. Because most of sources of household wastewater has not been treated, water pollution in rivers and canals is obviously seen there.

At the meeting, the Japanese delegation also introduced the drainage and wastewater treatment system in Yokohama city and experiences in drainage system development from planning, construction and operation management. The delegation expressed their desire to bring its existing experiences to propose the plan of improvement and upgrading of wastewater treatment systems in Dong Thap province; signed a memorandum of understanding between Yokohama City and Dong Thap Prefecture in this regard.

The two sides also exchanged more about issues related to the local situation, urban planning, customs, etc. to better understand how to build and treat wastewater in the area.
