Promoting cooperation and trade between Dong Thap and Henan

A group from Henan Province, China, visited and worked in Dong Thap early on June 5. The delegation was headed by Mr. Ton Van Phong, the Deputy Governor of the province. The delegation was met and collaborated with by Mr. Pham Thien Nghia, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Phan Van Thang, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and leaders of provincial branches.

Mr. Pham Thien Nghia cordially welcomed the delegation from Ha Nam province on behalf of the provincial officials. He also gave a brief overview of Dong Thap's recent socioeconomic development, including its assets and prospects.

Mr. Pham Thien Nghia emphasized the strong friendship and significant trade relationship that exist between Vietnam and China. He expressed the hope that the provinces of Dong Thap and Henan would continue to foster cooperation, laying the groundwork for a long-term relationship between the two areas, strengthening and deepening the friendship, and advancing the Vietnam-China cooperation relationship.

Mr. Pham Thien Nghia hoped that the two provinces would continue to work together closely in the future, regularly exchanging delegations, exchanging experiences in party building and state management, bolstering cooperation in the field of agricultural production, and motivating the businesses of Hanen province to invest in strategic areas like industry, construction, urban development, services (tourism), agriculture, etc.

Additionally, Mr. Ton Van Phong hoped that the provinces of Dong Thap and Ha Nam would keep fostering bilateral cooperation in the following areas: fostering trade and economic growth; deeper cooperation in agriculture; developing tourism; fostering cross-cultural exchanges; cooperation in government and people-to-people diplomacy; the food processing industry, etc.

Mr. Ton Van Phong extended an invitation to the leaders of Dong Thap province to visit, collaborate with the provincial government, and take part in the International Trade Fair that would take place in Hanenin September of next year.

Mr. Phan Van Thang, the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Deputy Secretary, agreed and expressed great appreciation for the two provinces' approaches to collaboration. Mr. Phan Van Thang said that in order to put the contents of the cooperation into concrete form, the two provinces should quickly decide on the areas of cooperation and then sign a memorandum of agreement. This will ensure that the contents of the discussion will be put into action in the two locations in the near future.

Immediately after the working session, the group from Ha Nam province (China) visited and learned about the activities at Hung Hau Fruit and Vegetable Company Limited (Tan Thanh commune, Lai Vung district) and Sa Dec Industrial Park (Sa Dec city).
