Accordingly, Dong Thap is one of the 10 provinces and cities with excellent economic governance quality and belongs to the group of provinces and cities with the highest PCI scores in 2024; it is one of the 03 provinces in the Mekong Delta region (along with Long An, Hau Giang) ranked this period.

Notably, the province's PCI score in 2024 reached 70.35 points, an increase of 0.69 points compared to 2023. Among the 10 component indices, Dong Thap province had 04 indices with increased scores compared to 2023. Prominent component indices highly evaluated by the business community include: Business Support Policy reaching 7.41 points (an increase of 1.2 points), Market Entry reaching 8.43 points (an increase of 0.93 points), Labor Training reaching 6.25 points (an increase of 0.65 points), and Transparency reaching 7.39 points (an increase of 0.11 points). These results demonstrate the strong efforts of the Dong Thap provincial authorities in enhancing competitiveness and improving the local investment environment.

PCI 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the index's creation and announcement in Viet Nam. This is also the 19th year that Dong Thap has participated and strived to improve the business investment environment through PCI, and it is also the 17th consecutive year (2008 – 2024) the province has been in the leading group nationwide – a proud achievement, affirming a strong, consistent, and substantive reform commitment.

Along with PCI, in 2024, Dong Thap province showed outstanding performance in the Provincial Green Index (PGI), rising from 18th place in 2023 to 7th place nationwide in 2024, with component indices including: Pollution and Disaster Reduction (7.65 points); Ensuring Compliance (7.45 points); Promoting Green Practices (6.28 points); and Incentive Policies and Support Services (6.03 points).

This is the third year that the VCCI has announced the Provincial Green Index. A province or city is considered to have good environmental governance quality when it makes efforts to prevent and reduce environmental pollution and natural disaster risks; builds and implements reasonable regulations and measures to ensure compliance with environmental laws without creating excessive burdens for businesses; provides full guidance and dissemination on green practices and focuses on green procurement; and finally, encourages the "greening" of production and business models through specific policies and business support programs.
