Director of World Bank in Vietnam visits Enterprises Coffee of Dong Thap
“I like the opened and friendly atmosphere at Enterprises Coffee Shop of Mr. Nguyen Van Duong – Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee. It shows the sincerity, listening and acquiring the oppions of local people and enterprises for local government. When coming back to Hanoi, I will apply this model in my office and simultaneously intruduce other agencies to visit and to study the model of Dong Thap province”. Mr. Ousmane Dione – National Director of World Bank (WB) in Vietnam expresses his feeling at the time that visits the Enterprises – enterpreneurs Coffee at the campus of Provincial People’s Committee in the morning of September 22.
Open atmosphere in meeting with Mr. Ousmane Dione at the Enterprises – Entrepreneurs Coffee
During this visit in Dong Thap province, Mr. Ousmane Dione – National Director of WB in Vietnam will attend in the launching ceremony of The World Bank Group's Country Partnership Framework (CPF). Mr. Ousmane Dione personally expresses curiosity and wishes to directly speak with leaders of Dong Thap province - the locality always in the top of the whole country in terms of Provincial Competitiveness Index.
Early morning, Chairmain of Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duong and Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee is present at the campus of the Enterprises – Entrepreneurs Coffee in order to welcome Mr. Ousmane Dione.
In an open atmosphere, the Provincial Leaders and Mr. Ousmane Dione share a lot of information related to some cooperation opportunities and development orientation of the locality.
Discussing about the development strategy orientation of Dong Thap province, as well as provinces in the Mekong River Delta region, National Director of WB in Vietnam said that the localities need to link and cooperate together; in the short term, it is very necessary to select some priority key issues for development; and the Dong Thap Muoi Sub-region Linking Project is a concrete step with strategic level. In that, we must start to work immediately, just working and just learning from experience, and not wait for a general plan to implement.
Commenting on the Agricultural development strategy of Dong Thap province, Mr. Ousmane Dione noted that the localities need to pay attention and to shape some issues applied high technology in Agriculture, especially in processing sector in order to improve the value of agri-products. This is a key factor in determining the competitiveness of agri-products in regional and global exports.
Beside that, the application of high technology in adaptating to climate changes is also a very important issue, which has a great impact on crop conversion and crop structure to meet production needs in the next time.
In addition, according to upcoming trends, Vietnam has the speed of urbanization is increasingly stronger and faster. It is expected that a large number of the population will move from rural to urban areas; and the middle class will increase; and the demand for food and foodstuffs, especially safe and high quality agricu-products will grow strongly. Therefore, to develop, the localities need to correctly identify these trends and needs in order to have a subtainable and long-term development strategy – National Director of WB in Vietnam suggests.
