Strengthening Management of Laborers to Work Abroad for a Definite Period of Time

Facing complicated situations from the Covid-19 epidemic in the country and in the world, on September 16th, the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) sent a document requesting units to implement solutions to ensure health and safety for workers in host countries.

Accordingly, the PPC directs the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to assume their prime responsibility and coordinate with relevant departments and People's Committees of districts and cities in implementing solutions for employees who work abroad for a definite time to properly perform the signed contract; absolutely do not stay illegally and violate the laws of host countries, especially in the current complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic; promptly grasp information to support employees who are about to expire in the labor contract.

The PPC assigns the Department of Information and Communications to direct news agencies and press to actively propagate for employees and their families to properly perform labor contracts; raise awareness, accept strictly comply with the law and measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic in their host countries, risks of fleeing or illegally residing abroad.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province and provincial socio-political organizations shall coordinate with relevant departments in propagating and mobilizing laborers residing illegally abroad to promptly contact functional agencies for advice and support.

Since 2014, Dong Thap province has sent 9.000 employees to work abroad. Currently, there are about 6.300 labors are working abroad under contract.
