Department of Health (DoH) is a specialized state agency belonging to Đồng Tháp provincial People’s Committee (PPC). The department helps PPC to govern following aspects of healthcare across Đồng Tháp province: Preventive medicine; medical examination and treatment; rehabilitation; medical assessment, forensic and mental forensic examination; traditional medicine; medical equipment; pharmacy; cosmetics; food safety; health insurance; population - family planning; reproductive health and other healthcare tasks.

Department of Health has its own legal status, seal, headquarter building and a separate account; being under control of PPC over its organization, personel and the performance. Meanwhile, DoH is under control as well as under the direction, inspection and guidance on professional duties of the Ministry of Health over its performance.
