On the afternoon of February 10, 2026, a delegation from the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (Kingdom of Cambodia), led by Mr. Hiek Phirun - Deputy Director General in charge of the Port Authority, Phnom Penh Autonomous Port, visited and paid a courtesy call to the provincial leaders on the occasion of the traditional Tet holiday. Receiving and working with the delegation was Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu - Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders from relevant departments and agencies.

At the meeting, Mr. Hiek Phirun extended New Year greetings to the leaders and people of Dong Thap province; he also highly appreciated the friendly and close cooperative relationship between the two sides in the past; and provided information on the transportation of goods through the port system and the waterway transport route connecting the border area; especially customs clearance activities at the Thuong Phuoc International Border Gate. Accordingly, the volume of goods transported through the area is increasing, contributing to promoting trade and economic development between the two localities.
In addition, Mr. Hiek Phirun also shared some orientations for logistics development, strengthening inland waterway transport connections, improving port operational efficiency, and shortening customs clearance times. At the same time, he expressed his desire to continue receiving coordination and support from Dong Thap province to create favorable conditions for businesses from both sides in the process of trade and goods transportation across the border.

Speaking at the reception, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Dieu welcomed the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port delegation to visit and work and simantaineously he acknowledged the positive cooperation results in the past. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu stated that Dong Thap is promoting digital transformation in the fields of transport management, customs declaration, logistics, and import-export activities to create an open and transparent environment, shortening processing times for businesses. The province also hopes that in the coming time, the cooperative relationship between Dong Thap province and the Phnom Penh Port Authority will continue to be strengthened, contributing to promoting goods trade, improving the efficiency of international waterway transport, thereby making a positive contribution to the socio-economic development of each side, as well as fostering the strong friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
