Department of Construction (DoC) is a specialized state agency, belonging to Đồng Tháp provincial People’s Committee (PPC). The department helps PPC to govern these following aspects: construction and architecture planning; investment in construction; urban development; infrastructure works in urban areas, industrial parks and economic zones (including: water supply, drainage, non-hazardous solid waste management; building material production facilities; urban lighting; parks, urban trees; cemetery management except martyr’s cemeteries; urban transport infrastructure structute, not including employment, operation and maintenance management; urban underground construction management; urban infrastructure sharing management); housing; governmental office; the real estate market; building materials; to offer public services within the scope of its management; and to perform other tasks assigned by PPC or the chair of PPC.

Department of Construction has its own legal status, seal, headquarter building and a separate account; being under control of the PPC over its organization, personel and the performance. Meanwhile, DoC is under control, as well as under the direction, inspection and guidance on professional duties of the Ministry of Construction over its performance.
