Dong Thap Community College is a public non-business unit under the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, subject to the state management of vocational education by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; has the function of training college, intermediate and elementary levels; organize regular training in accordance with the Law on Vocational Education; has authority to be granted diplomas of college level or below which are suitable to the structure of the training industry and profession, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development and the learning needs of cadres, civil servants, and public employees; cooperate with university institutions to develop transfer programs to university level so that students can be connected according to the cooperation scheme and commitment between the two universities basing on accordant provisions of law.

At the same time, the College has the function of linking with other colleges and universities for inter-connected training, training in a number of professions and occupations at the request of the province in accordance with regulations.
