The delegation was welcomed by Comrade Ngo Chi Cuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee; Comrade Phan Van Thang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Province's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; and Comrade Tran Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, as well as provincial departments’ leaders.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the leaders of the two provinces discussed the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. These are big political developments that raise considerable hopes for both countries' continued prosperity in the next years. At the same time, both parties exchanged information on each locality's socioeconomic progress throughout the previous years.

Mr. SouPhap ThamMaHakSa, Deputy Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee, spoke during the meeting and wished the Party Committee, government, and people of Dong Thap province a happy New Year. He expressed hope that in the future, the two provinces will continue to strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels, share professional experiences, promote people-to-people exchanges, and encourage businesses on both sides to expand cooperation in investment, production, business, and trade.

On the occasion of the traditional Vietnamese New Year, the Champasak Provincial Party Committee's Deputy Secretary congratulated the Party Committee, government, and people of Dong Thap province a joyous, prosperous, and successful new year. He also expressed confidence that Vietnam-Laos' strong relationship, exceptional solidarity, and comprehensive collaboration, particularly between Dong Thap and Champasak, will grow in depth, substance, and effectiveness.

On behalf of the province's leadership, Provincial Party Secretary Ngo Chi Cuong thanked the Party Committee, government, and people of Champasak province for their kind sentiments toward Dong Thap and provided a brief overview of the province's socioeconomic development, particularly the operation of the two-tier local government model.

The Provincial Party Secretary stressed that Vietnam and Laos are two adjacent countries with a long history of friendship, exceptional solidarity, and an intimate, loyal, and pure relationship. President Ho Chi Minh and the leaders of the two parties and States have worked hard to cultivate this special connection, which has grown into a precious treasure that cannot be replaced. Along with the strong development of relations between the two nations, collaboration between Dong Thap province and localities in Laos, notably Champasak province, has been steadily developed and expanded.

In 2025 alone, Dong Thap and Champasak implemented many practical cooperation activities within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding for the period 2022-2025, achieving many outstanding results such as the exchange of delegations of provincial and departmental leaders; organizing a trade promotion delegation in Pakse city; and Dong Thap Medical College receiving 6 students from Champasak province to study pharmacy, nursing, and midwifery, among other things.

On this occasion, Provincial Party Secretary Ngo Chi Cuong wished the Champasak delegation members good health and success, as well as the continued expansion and development of the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic linkage between Vietnam and Laos, as well as between Dong Thap province and Champasak province.
