On the occasion of Viet Nam Science, Technology and Innovation Day 2026, on the afternoon of May 18, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province organized an intellectual gathering and honored Professors, Associate Professors and Doctors.
Mr. Huỳnh Minh Tuấn - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented congratulatory flowers and golden plaques to the intellectuals who were awarded the titles of Professor and Associate Professor.
Attending the gathering were Mr. Tran Thanh Nguyen - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Doan Van Phuong - Deputy Standing Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee; Mr. Vo Chi Huu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Le Quang Khoi - Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Mr. Nguyen Van Khang - Chairman of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations, along with representatives of leaders from departments, agencies, mass organizations, universities, colleges, research institutes, and 19 Professors, Associate Professors, and 63 Doctors who were honored.

In his opening speech, Mr. Le Quang Khoi - Director of the Department of Science and Technology emphasized that Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo has identified science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as three important pillars for national development in the new era. In this, high-quality human resources play a decisive role, creating a breakthrough impetus for rapid and sustainable development.
In recent times, Dong Thap province has achieved many positive results in applying scientific and technological advancements to practice. High-tech agricultural models have gradually improved product productivity and quality; digital transformation activities in state agencies, businesses, and social life have shown clear changes; the innovative startup ecosystem has gradually formed, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.
At the Meeting, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province honored 19 Professors, Associate Professors, and 63 Doctors recognized from 2022 - 2025. These are intellectuals working at universities, management agencies, research units, and businesses in the province and the Mekong Delta region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan expressed gratitude to the intellectuals and scientists who have contributed to the province's development in recent times. Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan emphasized that more than 60 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh advised: "Science must serve production, serve the people, contribute to increasing labor productivity and improving living standards." This spirit continues to be concretized in the Law on Science, Technology and Innovation 2025; at the same time, it becomes the foundation for promoting research and applying science and technology to practice.
According to Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan, Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW of the 13th Central Committee of the Viet Nam Communist Party has affirmed that the intellectual force is the "national essence," playing a pioneering role in scientific research, innovation, and development. Thoroughly grasping this spirit, Dong Thap province always pays attention to creating conditions for the intellectual force to promote their capabilities, dedication, and social responsibility; at the same time, it promotes the linkage of scientific research activities, technology transfer, and digital transformation with the practical requirements of the locality.

Mr. Huỳnh Minh Tuấn stated that in 2026, Dong Thap province identifies science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the main drivers of the new growth model, and also an urgent requirement to improve governance capacity and promote the goal of double-digit growth in the coming period. The province is focusing on drastically implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, considering this an important foundation for rapid development, sustainable development and enhance local competitiveness.
In addition, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also hopes that the team of Professors, Associate Professors, and Doctors honored will continue to be a pioneering force on the intellectual front, promoting research and creating many highly practical works, actively participating in consulting, critiquing, and offering ideas for the province's major policies and projects; contributing to building Dong Thap province into a leading developed locality in the Mekong Delta region by 2030.
