Meeting of the National Steering Committee on International Integration

On April 3rd, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, chair of the National Steering Committee on International Integration, presided at the Steering Committee's first quarter 2026 meeting. Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, the Steering Committee's Permanent Deputy Chairman, was also present, as were ministry and central and local agency executives, as well as representatives from Vietnamese agencies abroad.


Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presided over the meeting, which was held at the Dong Thap provincial location and attended by department and agency leaders.

In the midst of a fast-changing, complicated, and unpredictable global scenario that has a direct impact on Vietnam's development environment, international integration is still regarded as a critical and continuing job, inextricably tied to maintaining national defense, security, and development.

The Prime Minister recommended that ministries, sectors, localities, corporations, and Vietnamese representative agencies overseas make extraordinary efforts to improve their understanding of foreign affairs. Vietnam conducted its foreign policy and international integration initiatives in a proactive and flexible manner in the first quarter of 2026, yielding numerous significant results. Notable accomplishments include the signing of economic cooperation packages worth $37 billion and the support of the development of international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Vietnam made significant progress in technology diplomacy, including agreements to build nuclear power facilities and collaboration in semiconductor industry training. Furthermore, Vietnam actively participated in peacekeeping operations and established contacts with neighboring nations and significant partners, therefore raising its international profile.

Dong Thap province recognizes that international integration promotes local socioeconomic growth. By 2025, economic growth is expected to be 7.38%, with export turnover reaching $9.28 billion. The province is predicted to retain its growth pace in the first quarter of 2026, with favorable results in terms of investment attraction, business development, tourism, and job creation.
