Mr. Bui Thanh Nhon - Chairman of the Board of Directors of NovaGroup Joint Stock Company emphasized that the idea of Mekong Smart City was expected to become an attractive destination for tourism in the Mekong sub-region, a lever to promote socio-economic development of the two localities as well as the Mekong Delta region, gradually creating a model of border urban areas in Vietnam.

Mr. Pham Thien Nghia - Chairman of Dong Thap Province People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province and Ms. Hoang Thu Chau – General Director of NovaGroup Joint Stock Company signed a memorandum of cooperation.

Accordingly, the great Mekong Smart City project has 11 component projects including 03 projects to be implemented in the period of 2022 - 2025: (1) Green Dragon smart urban area, estimated scale of 115 hectares; (2) Bui Thanh Thuy Tourism Craft Village, estimated scale of 127 ha; (3) Fruit processing factory, expected scale of 02 ha.

Proposed projects for research and implementation planning include (1) Las Vegas Island, estimated scale of 250 hectares; (2) Mekong seaport (Thuong Phuoc), expected scale of 9,14 ha; (3) Mekong Logistics logistics area, expected scale of 123 ha; (4) Special economic zone, expected scale of 5.300 ha; (5) Mekong village, expected scale 450 ha; (6) Mekong Industrial Park, estimated scale of 1.000 ha; (7) Hi-tech agricultural zone, expected scale of 950 ha; (8) Civil and cargo airport, AI Technology Park, estimated area of 2.000 ha.

In phase 1, NovaGroup will participate in the auction on the available clean land to develop the Green Dragon project, Bui Thanh Thuy craft village and Chinh Sach islet with an investment of over USD 02 billion (more than VND 46.000 billion). All net profits from the Green Dragon project, NovaGroup shall spend building hospitals and non-profit schools for Dong Thap province.

In addition, on the land of An Giang province, NovaGroup will invest in the non-profit International University and the 250-hectare Las Vegas Island project on Chinh Sach islet. When Las Vegas Island comes into operation, it will help Tan Chau - Hong Ngu become an attractive border tourism destination of the region, a place of entertainment and increase budget revenue. All profits from Las Vegas Island, Novagroup will be used to build a non-profit school and hospital for An Giang province.

Mr. Pham Thien Nghia - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his excitement that NovaGroup's projects would bring breakthrough development and prosperity to investors and related localities.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Pham Thien Nghia - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that, since this signing ceremony, Dong Thap would stand side by side with NovaGroup Joint Stock Company to continue realizing each project and determine to soon complete from the legal basis to the implementation of investment procedures and put the project into operation in accordance with current regulations, with the motto "the success of an enterprise is the pride and the result of the locality”.

We strongly believed and expected that we would accompany NovaGroup Joint Stock Company to successfully deploy investment projects, which would bring breakthrough and prosperous development not only to NovaGroup Joint Stock Company, but also the people of Dong Thap, An Giang and the Mekong Delta region - emphasized Mr. Pham Thien Nghia.

At the ceremony, NovaGroup also signed a cooperation agreement with Hanoi Medical University Hospital, accompanying the construction of a non-profit international hospital with 300-500 beds in Green Dragon urban area. NovaGroup also signed with Michael Dukakis Institute to cooperate in building a non-profit international university in Tan Chau town, An Giang province.
